As a child Ukoiya had a wild imagination and loved to entertain. In her late teens she was introduced to an eccentric group of artists living in Seattle. With them she began exploring performance through costume design, visual arts, dance and pyrotechnics. This turned out to be, just the beginning.
Ukoiya began her professional career in Tokyo, performing as an acro duo, aerialist and stilt walker. After working with Love Infusion and Boogie Universal, Ukoiya co-founded U & I Productions and began producing and co-managing Dream Science Circus. Dream Science Circus toured regionally for 5 years, selling out hundreds of shows. In 2006 Ukoiya toured, with the Body Art Ball as a dancer and acrobat.
Ukoiya has taught circus at the Whatcom Hills Waldorf school and Bellingham's Wellspring High, she is certified as a personal trainer through I.S.S.A and is a graduate of the Professional Track Training program at the New England Center for Circus Arts.
She is currently coaching at MOTH Contemporary Circus Center. Leading workshops and teacher trainings internationally for Nimble Arts and has just recently returned from leading the first act creation workshop in Ireland with Fidget Feet.
When Ukoiya isn't performing or teaching she is designing and fabricating beautiful custom costumes, enjoying friends and spending time in nature.
